    Abstract: The purpose of the study was to develop an aiding approach to help human operators to reach accurate diagnosis rapidly. In order to verify the effects of the two types of aiding information: backward information (B) and forward information (F), a simulated experiment of diagnosing a heat exchanger system was performed. As shown in the experimental results, F and B improved the diagnosis performance of the subjects successfully
