    Abstract: The Harshaw TLD 6600 counting system has been introduced into Taiwan for the evaluation of radiation dose in recent years. This work gives a detailed study of the characteristics of this system. The effects of stability and heating methods of the TLD 6600 reader on the dose responses of the LiF TLD card are reported. These responses include the thermoluminescence curves, reproducibility of thermoluminescence output, and residual thermoluminescence. The reliability of using this counting system for low dose evaluation is also investigated
