    Abstract: In Taiwan, there are six operating nuclear power plants that annually produce ~6000 drums of low-level radioactive waste (LLW). Some of these LLW drums are stored temporarily on an off-island, Lan-Yu. The current plan for safe disposal of LLW calls for its emplacement in a below-ground concrete vault (BGCV). As Taiwan is densely populated, it is reasonable to develop such an LLW repository on some off-islands. Since some radioactive nuclides will eventually release to the biosphere after disposal, the radiological assessment of the repository should be made before its development. Recently, Kim et al (1988), employed a simplified probabilistic risk analysis method to evaluate the safety of a land-buried LLW repository with the disposal of one batch of waste only.
