Abstract: The interdependences among linguistic classifications and categorizations have long been discussed; however, how the nominal classification are (inter-) connected with each other still not make a consensus (Senft 2000). In this paper, we construct an interactive model grounded on the prototype effects (Rosch and Mervis1975), experiential view of categorization (Johnson 1987, Lakoff 1987), and the model of intercategorial continuity (Kleiber1990) to illustrate such connections. In this model, prototypes are represented as clusters of abstract features ranked with the conventional perspectives shared by language users; the interactions between sortal classifiers and nouns provide the crucial basis for the dynamicity of the model.
