    Abstract: Superconducting quaternary rare earth compounds RBa2Cu3O7 are unstable above 950°C. The transition temperatures depend heavily on the starting materials, thermal history, oxygen content and the interpretation of the data. While magnetic rare earth ions have little effect on the transition temperature, it is thought that these compounds should order magnetically, probably in the mK range
